The miner's camp is now occupied with serious mining and is off limits to shooting.

I was trying to find this place and could not. Please help with some directions. I took 17 north and went past the Ben Avey shooting range got off on exit 225 took a left on to Pioneer rd and wandered around from there never finding where people are shooting. I did see a gravel road that had some fresh rocks put in where it leaves the asphalt. I went back this road and saw a few smaller roads that split off and I went as far as a small stream and turned back. I was in a car and did not want to try and of the other roads not knowing what they are like.
I saw the Pioneer museam and the prision, but not where people shoot. This was just a scouting mission and not a range trip, but any help with directions or other places would be great.
Thanks Russ

Wrong exit...Table Mesa Road exit is what you want, although I've heard it's pretty well shut down.

Please disregard. Question was unrelated to Table Mesa, moved to its own thread.

It would be ok to shoot off Bumblebee (normally), except the BLM has set fire restrictions on shooting for all of BLM property (temporarily, until it rains). That's why all of Table Mesa was closed (it had been open a month 1/2 ago).
Check the BLM website for info. You might try Prescott National Forest, legal shooting there, but it's a drive from Phx (20 more minutes if you went to Bumblebee)

great information .... thank you. any idea on where to shoot at 7 springs? is it ok to shoot there? seems like its a popular shooting spot, but i have been hearing that MCSO rolls out there sometimes and you technically are not supposed to shoot there.

Isn't 7 springs residential and smack in the middle of Tonto NF? Tonto and Sitgreaves have all the restrictions (In addition to the BLM). I've seen a bunch of nice spots up and down I-17 between the rim and Phoenix, but it's all in BLM territory or Tonto NF. Sucks, but such is the way of the beurocrats.
I had to not go shooting as often, due to the dryness and all the fire restrictions (seemed easier to join a group shooting at Ben Avery). The long drive (used to be shorter), the gas and the amount of prep time would just kill a weekend. Depending on what you shoot there's a shoot on Saturday at BASF, by Cactus Combat group.

Tonto (where Seven Springs is) Is closed for shooting right now due to fire danger.

I know everybody wants to go out to the desert and shoot, but until we get some monsoons, its not happening.

Please don't start any fires, we have enough already.

its been raining, but those stupid signs are still up.

the thought of table mesa catching fire is all but entirely ridiculous. Fire cant burn without fuel.

They're trying to get people to go to the range, especially when you drive right by it, at least they have trash cans.
