The NRA got good results again.

One can always hope...but there seems to be a history of idealistic 'reformers' heading to the District of Corruption (or state capitols) and delivering appreciably less than promised or expected. The vision of Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown to kick and promising 'this time...' comes to mind.

And lest we overlook the unpleasant reality, just being a 'member of the so-called gun lobby' doesn't mean an individual isn't biased against handguns, or the fictional 'assault weapon', or standard-capacity magazines, or...

Sure, 'pro-rights' candidates being elected is better news than anti's, but I'd hold the champagne and balloons until these folks actually begin accomplishing something, until their promises start producing positive legislation.

The champagne is still on the shelf. I'm saving it for a special occasion, like when carter or clinton or kerry expires.

But, we should be pleased that the NRA was effective in the election. It's not time to go to sleep, but a time to keep up the pressure on the newly elected. Eternal vigilance must be our way of life.

By way of comparison, candidates endorsed by Obama and Clinton lost in large numbers.

I don't want to be a negative Nelly, but I think a lot of the sentiment this time, was the same as in 2008, many of us were just completely sick of the status quo. The NRA may or may not have had an impact on that, I don't know, but many of those endorsed by the NRA were simply "the other guy".

I am still really annoyed at the low turnout. We could create a massive 3rd party that no one could beat if we could get all those people that do not vote to show up. I find it very annoying.

... as much as "we" like beating up on AzCDL, NRA and the Republican party, they are among very few organized mechanisms left that we can count on to even remotely ever hope promote the notion of our mutual congress

I hear what you're saying. But I would counter that unless we beat them up when they deserve it,...what will motivate them to stay on the rightious path? Do as you see fit, and so will I. I have a lot of flogging to attend to.

We need to keep the pressure on for them to do what's right.

Just because a candidate is backed by the NRA doesn't mean he's a great guy. Mitch McConnel comes to mind. Anti-liberty, establishment hack with his sights set on destroying the tea party/liberty segment of the republican party.

This is correct but we forget that the NRA is a single issue group. For example, a candidate could be pro obamacare, pro socialism etc and if that person is a rabidly pro 2A, the NRA will endorse them. The NRA does not endorse based on policy outside of firearms issues.

This is something that a lot of people don't seem to know or understand, but it's important to know in today's world.

Yup, like they endorsed "Harry Reid", how'd that work for you??? NRA is more interested in raising money for their salaries and jumping in to claim credit for actions that others started that they poo poo'd at that time if it looks like it will now pass!!!
