I only have one, a Sig p229 in 40. Primarily a .45 acp guy. I am currently rebuilding my 1911, so I carry the Sig
or my new Kahr CW9. Just run through a bunch of 9mm in it today and now feel comfortable with it out
to about 20 yrds. Actually the CW9 is my wife's, but she lets me carry in it the summer. So now the
search for the CW40 starts........ Yea, I like the 40 S&W better than 9mm. [smilie=icon_mrgreen.gif]

Been out of 40 for years, coincidently, just recently came across 4 boxes of 40 target stuff I had forgotten about. Never felt under powered with 9mm,... but, 45acp is nice !!!

:p

p.s. jmho, I do believe the 40S&W is a little bit better pistol caliber, for a dedicated carbine,... than 9mm or 45acp.

I run .40 all day long. I've got all the ammo conversions for my GLOCK 27, though. It's much more versatile that way; in case I need to scrounge for ammo when the apocalypse comes around these parts.

I'm kind of in the same boat, bought a couple of 22's because thought I needed something to bridge the gap from the 9 to the 45. Wanted to have a pistol in which the wife and I could each have for consistency ( I favored the 45 and she favored the 9). But after buyer remorse, wish I would have just bought another 17 or 19 and saved myself the hassle of another caliber with more reloading supplies. Big picture, I was striving for consistency, but went the other direction instead...

I've got a 2-1/2 pound coffee can about 2/3 full of .40 S&W cleaned brass that looks once fired to me.

Whatcha got to trade? Maybe 9MM empties or bullets or primers or 20 Gauge empties or whatever? I use all kinds of stuff.

Back in the day I swore by .40. Years ago I got rid of it and stick to 9mm and .45.

Hmmm.. I am a fan on the compromise cartridge.

With that said, the only .40 I have is a G22C and I also have a 9mm barrel for it.

A little smaller than .45... but a lot faster.. Expansion isn't far off either.. And I have 15 rounds in my G22 and only 8 in my 1911's.

I don't think anyone is dissing the S&W40. I think it is exactly what it is, larger than 9mm, and, faster than the 45acp. But, speed to bullet weight, is all relative. The S&W40 speed is a direct result of lighter projectiles than 45acp. Large and slow was designed specificly to do such,.... because it works, imho.

I think, for what it was designed for, it does it in spades!!! I just think if one likes 45acp, why step down a notch to the S&W40? Now, if I couldn't have a 45acp, I would jump back on the S&W40 wagon, drop my 9mm stuff,.... and never look back.

they're all good, if I do my part,
leverman
