Didn't take long for my prediction to come to pass, did it?

P.S. No group name was mentioned until I get a clear idea as to how receptive they are to our help.

Thanks Muk.

But I have to tell ya, I'm all for going out there with or without permission.

As TimW said
Quote:
What would they do if a flash-mob just showed up, repaired and repainted them within a couple hours, before anyone from the FS could arrive?

Would they shoot up the place again to make it like it was?

What sort of press would they get if they tried to cite people for REPAIRING items to their original condition, esp if BEFORE and AFTER pictures (pre-repair and post-repair) were made available, if a pre-written press-release were made available to the media? One need not even inform the media that it was gun-owners who did it.

I mean, if it was a flash-mob, it could have been ATVers, Horseback riders, hikers, environmentalists, people who collect pictures of outhouses, etc.

Hell, you could have ALL groups get the credit. Then who would they go after?

"Next on Channel 3, reports of an anonymous flashmob of people who repaired the outhouses in the four peaks area, and the Forest Service personnel who want to cite them for their civic service...."

Damn right! ;)

Do you think it makes any difference whether you gave them the AZS name or not? No. Now they'll head out there like good little bureaucrats and make sure no citizen does something good.

There's always one guy who can't leave well enough alone. Usually it's the guy who's never dealt with government stupidity and is way "smarter" than those of us who know better.

no good deed ever goes unpunished.

I'd be surprised if you can spray them with paint, a lot of people park in that lot next to them.
Shame really they were pretty decent at one time.
good luck on this repair, I can donate some materials, lmk whats needed.

I have near 30 years of experience in the construction field and related industries. I'm currently a licensed contractor in another state where I have already bid and won several State, Federal and local contracts over the years. It is perfectly normal for me to inquire about such contracts with the proper contacts here. Hence my phone call.

It is just another day trying to find local work.

You must not have dealt with the FS in AZ. 8)

As to your last line... Are you suggesting that you are attempting to make money on this, or did I misunderstand?

The way I read Runamuk's last statement was that, as far as he wanted the FS to think, it was a simple inquiry into how/who he'd contact to submit a bid.....
Paranoia and suspicion run WAY too high in this thread.

LOL! I volunteered just as you all have. No $$$

I just went on a recon mission incognito and I have yet to receive a response. Not that I'm really expecting one. I'm just another contractor looking for work as far as they are concerned. [smilie=icon_mrgreen.gif]

The Forest Service in Ca has their own "in house" contractors to do this type of work who have Federal Specifications to abide by. I can only assume that the FS here is the same.

This noble fix up for the out houses are running down hill pretty quick. 1. The forest service will take forever to fix the buildings and at an inflated cost. 2. We could do a professional job for pennies on the buck and in short time but it won't happen. We would not be authorized by the dufas Gov and if we do it anyway we could be up for fines and jail possibly.

Good try Gents, would have liked to participate.

How far is this place from North Tucson? I'll come up on Saturday with some basic tools and more energy than expertise.

What is everyone worried about? Trespassing? It's public! Vandalism? Unless our craftsmanship is worse than that of a shotgun... No worries. Park Service? They couldn't protect it in the first place and probably wouldn't find us unless you guys smoke too much and they think it's a fire. :D

Call the media on the way up the hill and let them know what's going on. If you can find a non-liberal rag somewhere.

Let's get 'er done.

I'm in with some funds for materials and my hands for a day.

I've got some paint rollers and pads in the garage, looks like the things need some wood filler and a coat of paint.

That one door looks like it needs to be replaced completely, not sure how much that would run or where the hell you'd even get one.

Let me know what I can do.
